My connection with Taoism began during a difficult period in my life.
At that time, I was facing things I could not change. The harder I tried to control everything, the more powerless I felt. Then, by chance, I walked into a Taoist temple in the mountains.
There, I quietly took in the gentle mountain breeze, the misty incense drifting through the air, the pillars shaped by time, the moss covering the old roof tiles, and the ancient sacred statues.
It was all of this that made me slow down for the first time—and simply become still, allowing myself to truly explore Taoist culture.
There, I came to feel that life is like flowing water.
When the water flows gently, it is like a peaceful life—smooth and calm. In those moments, we should appreciate and embrace the beauty of the present.
When the current becomes turbulent, it is like the hardships of life—filled with tension and fear. Then, perhaps, we need the courage to move against the current and face the challenges that stand before us.
Going with the flow does not mean surrendering to fate; moving against the current does not mean fighting against the natural order.
What matters is knowing why we set out, and having the courage to follow the path we truly believe is right.
As I understand the wisdom of Taoism:
Walk the path you believe is right.
Do what you believe is right.
Perhaps, this was where my journey with Taoism truly began.
